Shipping & Returns Policy

Shipping

At Michael Hayes Newport, we take great care in packing and shipping your purchase so it arrives looking every bit as special as it did in our boutique.

1. Where We Ship

We currently ship within the United States. For international inquiries, please contact the store directly.

2. Order Processing TIme

Orders are processed during our regular business hours, Tuesday through Saturday.

  • Most in-stock items ship within 1–2 business days.
  • High-value items, including designer gowns, may require an additional business day for verification and careful packaging.
  • Orders placed on Sundays, Mondays, or holidays will begin processing on the next business day.

You’ll receive an email with tracking information as soon as your order has shipped.

3. Shipping Methods & Rates

Shipping options are calculated at checkout based on your order total, destination, and selected service. Options may include:

  • Standard Ground (approx. 3–7 business days)
  • Expedited (approx. 2–3 business days)
  • Express (approx. 1–2 business days, where available)

Transit times are estimates provided by the carriers and are not guaranteed.

4. Shipping Insurance & Signature for Designer Gowns

To protect your investment, all Leo Lin and other designer gowns are shipped with:

  • Full-value shipping insurance, and
  • Signature Required upon delivery

These protections help ensure your gown is not left unattended and is covered in the rare event of loss or damage in transit. The cost of insurance and signature service is reflected in the shipping charges shown at checkout.

Designer gowns and other high-value items cannot be shipped to P.O. boxes. Please provide a physical street address at checkout.

5. In-Store Pickup – Newport, RI

Local clients may choose In-Store Pickup at Michael Hayes Newport during checkout.

  • You’ll receive an email when your order is ready.
  • Please bring a photo ID and your order confirmation when picking up your purchase.
  • Orders not picked up within a reasonable time frame may be canceled at our discretion.

6. Order Tracking

Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use this tracking number to monitor delivery directly with the carrier.

If your tracking shows “delivered” but you have not received your package, please contact us and the carrier within 48 hours so we can assist with a trace.

7. International Shipping

At this time, we do not offer international shipping through our online store. For special requests, please contact the boutique directly for assistance.

Returns & Exchanges

We want you to be delighted with your purchase. If something isn’t quite right, we’ll do our best to help—within the guidelines below.

1. General Return Eligibility

Eligible items may be returned for a refund or store credit, subject to the following conditions:

  • The item is returned within 7 days of the delivery date.
  • The item is unworn, unused, unwashed, and in original condition.
  • All tags, including any designer and security tags, are attached and intact.
  • The item is free of makeup, deodorant, perfume, pet hair, and any signs of wear.
  • Shoes and accessories (if applicable) are returned in their original boxes and dust bags.

Returns that do not meet these requirements may be refused or subject to a restocking fee.

2. Returns on Designer Gowns (Including Leo Lin)

Due to the special-occasion nature and limited availability of designer gowns:

  • Leo Lin and other special-occasion gowns may be returned within 7 days of delivery for store credit only, provided they meet all return condition requirements above.
  • Gowns that have been worn, altered, damaged, or returned without tags attached cannot be accepted.
  • Any items marked “Final Sale” are not eligible for return or exchange under any circumstances.

If you have questions about fit or styling before you purchase, we encourage you to contact us—we’re happy to help you select the right size and silhouette.

3. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • Digital and physical gift cards
  • Final sale or marked-down merchandise clearly labeled as “Final Sale”
  • Worn, altered, damaged, or soiled garments
  • Special orders or custom items

4. How to Initiate a Return

To initiate a return:

  1. Contact us at [insert returns email] or call [insert store phone number] with your order number and the item(s) you wish to return.
  2. Once your return is approved, we will provide instructions and, when applicable, a return shipping label.
  3. Pack your item securely in its original packaging, including garment bags, designer boxes, and any accessories that came with the item.

Unless the return is due to our error (incorrect or defective item), return shipping charges may be deducted from your refund or store credit.

5. Refunds & Store Credits

  • Once we receive and inspect your return, you’ll receive an email notification of approval or denial.
  • Approved returns will be processed within 5–10 business days of receipt.
  • Eligible refunds will be issued to the original form of payment, except for designer gowns and other items designated as store-credit-only.
  • All shipping charges (including original shipping and insurance) are non-refundable, unless the return is due to our error.

6. Exchanges

Because many of our designer pieces are produced in limited quantities, we cannot guarantee availability for direct exchanges.

If you’d like a different size or style, we recommend:

  1. Initiating a return (if eligible), and
  2. Placing a new order for the desired item to secure it before it sells out.

7. Damaged or Incorrect Items

We carefully inspect each item before it leaves the boutique. In the rare event that you receive a damaged or incorrect item:

  • Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery at hello@michaelhayesnewport.com with your order number and clear photos of the issue.
  • We will review and work with you to repair, replace, or refund the item, as appropriate.
